Perlis, Malaysia — The Office of Cooperation and International Affairs (BKUI) of Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) continues to strengthen its international networks and partnerships through the implementation of academic collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Cawangan Perlis, Malaysia.

The collaboration was implemented through a visiting lecturer program involving UIR lecturers and a staff mobility program for professional and administrative staff. These initiatives represent a follow-up to the cooperation between UIR and UiTM Perlis in the areas of education, research, and community engagement.

Several UIR lecturers from different academic disciplines participated in the visiting lecturer program, including Prof. Dr. H. Fathurrahman, S.P., M.Sc. from the Faculty of Agriculture and Fisheries, Dini Tiara Sasmi, S.IP., M.Si., M.A. from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Atikah Haira Bagawan, B.S., M.A., Ph.D. from the Faculty of Psychology, and M. Irfan Rosyadi, S.E., M.E. from the Faculty of Economics and Business.

Meanwhile, the staff mobility program was participated in by two BKUI UIR staff members, Budi Satria, S.E. and Dina Rahmadani, S.Pd. Their participation provided opportunities to exchange knowledge, share institutional practices, and expand professional networks between the two universities.

The UIR delegation was warmly welcomed by the Rector of UiTM Cawangan Perlis, Associate Professor Dr. Ahmad Nizan Mat Noor. The meeting served as an important platform for both institutions to explore strategic opportunities for further academic and institutional collaboration.

Head of BKUI UIR, Dini Tiara Sasmi, S.IP., M.Si., M.A., explained that the visiting lecturer and staff mobility programs were part of the implementation of a broader cooperation framework, which had previously been initiated through a focus group discussion (FGD).

“The discussion focused on opportunities for joint research and publications, expertise exchange, knowledge sharing, and the development of joint academic programs,” she explained.

Through these initiatives, BKUI UIR reaffirms its commitment to expanding meaningful international partnerships that provide tangible benefits for the university community. The collaboration with UiTM Perlis is expected to create further opportunities for joint research and publications, knowledge and expertise exchange, and cross-border academic programs.

The visiting lecturer and staff mobility programs also represent a strategic step in strengthening UIR’s internationalization agenda and developing sustainable academic partnerships at the global level.
