SPE UIR and UMPSA Strengthen International Collaboration through Collaboration Mobility Program

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Student Chapter at Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) — an international technical student organization for petroleum engineering students — has reinforced its global cooperation by conducting the Collaboration Mobility Program 2025 together with University Malaysia Pahang Al–Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA).

The week-long program took place from 16 to 22 July 2025, during which a delegation from UMPSA consisting of 25 students and three faculty members took part in various educational activities alongside SPE UIR members.

The program began with a public lecture on “Advanced Core Analysis for Reservoir Management,” presented in cooperation with PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan at the UIR Rectorate Building. The session was attended by UIR’s Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Admiral, S.H., M.H., who emphasized that the collaboration is an important step in strengthening academic and technical synergy between petroleum engineering students from Indonesia and Malaysia.

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Deddy Purnomo Retno, S.T., M.T., GP. A-Utama, added that the mobility program aims to broaden students’ insights, enhance technical competencies, and expand international networks to prepare them for future energy industry challenges.

Through this collaboration, participants gain valuable cross-border experience in petroleum engineering, build international connections, and foster a spirit of cooperation to support sustainable development in the global energy sector.
