Universitas Islam Riau Signs MoU with Riau High Court to Expand Legal Internship and Research Opportunities

Pekanbaru, Indonesia – Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) has strengthened its commitment to producing highly competent and practice-oriented law graduates by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Riau High Court. The strategic partnership marks an important milestone in fostering collaboration between higher education and the judicial sector while creating broader opportunities for students, lecturers, and legal practitioners.

The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Auditorium of the UIR Rectorate Building and attended by the leadership of both institutions. Beyond formalizing institutional cooperation, the agreement establishes a framework for implementing various collaborative programs, including student internships, applied legal research, guest lectures by judicial experts, and professional capacity-building initiatives.

Through this partnership, UIR students—particularly those from the Faculty of Law—will gain valuable opportunities to experience judicial processes firsthand within the Riau High Court. The internship program is designed to bridge academic learning with practical legal experience, enabling students to deepen their understanding of court administration, legal procedures, and the implementation of justice in Indonesia.

In addition to student development, the collaboration encourages lecturers and judges to engage in joint legal research addressing contemporary legal issues and judicial reform. The partnership also supports academic discussions, public legal education, seminars, and community outreach programs aimed at strengthening legal awareness and contributing to the development of Indonesia’s legal system.

This initiative reflects Universitas Islam Riau’s vision of strengthening collaboration with government institutions and professional organizations to improve the quality of education, research, and community service. By integrating academic excellence with real-world legal practice, UIR continues to prepare graduates who possess strong legal competencies, professional ethics, and the practical skills required to contribute to the advancement of justice and the rule of law at both national and international levels.
