PEKANBARU – Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening academic networks and international collaboration through the International Science and Technology Conference (ICoSTech) 2026. The international conference was held in a hybrid format on 23–24 September 2026 at the fourth-floor Auditorium of the UIR Rectorate Building in Pekanbaru, Indonesia.

ICoSTech 2026 is an annual conference organized by the Faculty of Applied Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Perlis Branch, Malaysia. This year, UIR was entrusted with hosting the event and participating in its organization. The conference carried the theme “Science Beyond Borders: Connecting Technology for a Sustainable Future,” highlighting the importance of cross-border collaboration in advancing science, technology, and sustainable innovation.

UIR Rector, Associate Professor Dr. Admiral, S.H., M.H., stated that ICoSTech 2026 represented a strategic opportunity for higher education institutions to expand knowledge exchange, improve research quality, and strengthen international academic collaboration.

He emphasized that advances in science and technology require synergy among universities, researchers, academics, students, and other stakeholders. International conferences such as ICoSTech provide a platform for participants from different countries to exchange ideas, present research findings, share experiences, and explore innovative solutions to global challenges.

Similarly, UiTM Perlis Branch Rector, Associate Professor Dr. Ahmad Nizan Mat Noor, highlighted the conference’s role as a platform for local and international participants to exchange knowledge, skills, experiences, and research outcomes. The event was also expected to foster new academic networks and collaborative initiatives that contribute to sustainable development.

ICoSTech 2026 featured keynote and invited speakers from various institutions. Their participation enriched academic discussions and opened opportunities for joint research, scientific publications, academic mobility, and international partnerships.

Through this conference, UIR continues to advance its internationalization agenda and expand strategic partnerships with higher education institutions worldwide. ICoSTech 2026 marks another important step toward building a collaborative, innovative, and globally connected academic environment that contributes to sustainable development through science and technology.
