Pekanbaru, August 21, 2026 — Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) continues to strengthen its international cooperation network through a strategic collaboration with Tarim Islamic University, Yemen. The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and an Implementation Arrangement (IA) at the Second-Floor Meeting Room of the UIR Rectorate Building on Friday (August 21, 2026).

The agreement marks a strategic step toward strengthening the implementation of the Catur Dharma of Higher Education, encompassing education, research, community service, and Islamic da’wah. The MoU was signed by UIR Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Admiral, S.H., M.H., and the Rector of Tarim Islamic University, Prof. Dr. Hussein Abdul Qadir Al-Aidarus.

Head of the UIR Office of Cooperation and International Affairs (BKUI), Dini Tiara Sasmi, S.IP., M.Si., M.A., stated that the cooperation is aimed at creating broader opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions. The partnership covers the development of education, research, community service, and the strengthening of Islamic da’wah.

The cooperation is expected to go beyond the signing of formal agreements and be translated into concrete and sustainable programs. Both universities have opportunities to support one another through knowledge and academic experience exchange, lecturer capacity development, and other activities in accordance with the respective roles and authorities of each institution.

As part of the series of activities, Prof. Dr. Hussein Abdul Qadir Al-Aidarus also delivered a visiting lecture for UIR lecturers who teach Islamic studies courses. The academic session provided a valuable platform for exchanging perspectives between Indonesia and Yemen while enriching lecturers’ insights into the development of Islamic education.

The collaboration with Tarim Islamic University further demonstrates UIR’s commitment to expanding international partnerships focused on enhancing academic quality, advancing Islamic scholarship, and making meaningful contributions to society.
