Pekanbaru, Indonesia – Universitas Islam Riau (UIR), in collaboration with the Riau Regional Police (Polda Riau), reaffirmed their commitment to environmental sustainability by organizing a public lecture on the Green Policing initiative. The program reflects a shared vision of strengthening environmental awareness through education, collaboration, and preventive action while engaging the younger generation in addressing ecological challenges.

The event brought together university leaders, representatives of Polda Riau, academics, and students to discuss the role of law enforcement and higher education institutions in promoting sustainable environmental governance. Green Policing was introduced as an innovative policing approach that integrates environmental protection into public security strategies, encouraging collaboration between government institutions, universities, and local communities.

During the session, participants explored key environmental issues affecting Riau Province, including forest and land fires, deforestation, and climate change. The speakers emphasized that preventive measures, public education, and community participation are essential to reducing environmental risks and preserving natural resources for future generations.
