Universitas Islam Riau (UIR) has taken a significant step to improve academic quality by hosting foreign professors as part of its Foreign Professorship Program. On 24–25 September 2025, UIR welcomed two distinguished professors from Germany, Prof. Stefan Koos and Prof. Michael Bohne, who delivered lectures and engaged in academic discussions across several faculties, including Social and Political Sciences (FISIPOL), Law, Economics and Business, Communication Sciences, and the Postgraduate Program.
During the program, the visiting professors shared expertise on a range of contemporary topics such as AI law, consumer protection, communication and artificial intelligence, as well as comparative studies between the European and ASEAN markets. In addition, an AI training workshop on scientific writing and copyright was held to further strengthen research skills and technological competence among participants.
The Head of the Office of International Cooperation and Affairs (BKUI) at UIR stated that this activity is part of the university’s strategic effort to support its vision of becoming a world-class Islamic university and to enhance the quality and relevance of education in line with global scientific and technological developments.
