Universitas Islam Riau (UIR), facilitated by the Office of International Cooperation and Affairs (BKUI), organized an international public lecture at the Faculty of Engineering featuring Prof. Kazuhito Ichi from Chiba University, Japan on Tuesday, 21 October 2025.
The event, held in the Faculty of Engineering auditorium, brought together around 150 students from various study programs to participate in the lecture titled “Satellite-based Monitoring of Land Surface Environment: Introduction to Remote Sensing.” In his presentation, Prof. Kazuhito explained how satellite remote sensing technology can be used for environmental monitoring, territorial planning, natural resource management, and climate change mitigation.
As part of strengthening academic cooperation, UIR and Chiba University also signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) along with Implementation Arrangements (IA) involving seven undergraduate study programs from the Faculty of Engineering and one postgraduate program at UIR. This partnership aims to enhance academic collaboration, enrich learning experiences, and open up broader opportunities for mobility, research, and knowledge exchange
